The CARLISLE BRASS® cb285 fire door seal is a high-performance intumescent door seal designed to close the gap between the fire door and frame in the event of a fire, thereby preventing the spread of smoke and hot gases. Once installed, the seals can remain dormant for many years, activating only when exposed to rising temperatures and pressures in a fire situation. The Firestop’s high-performance intumescent core contains intercalated graphite, which expands multi-directionally up to 10-15 times its original size when exposed to fire, sealing the gap and holding the door in place. It also provides cold smoke protection, adding additional thermal and acoustic benefits.
